A few weeks back I attended Xavier Omar’s concert in London.
I was familiar with his music, however, I didnt at the time class myself a mega fan, who knew every song word for word. I kept having a reoccurring nightmare, where a microphone would be shoved in my face and I would just stand there speechless.
Luckily this didn’t happen (thank God) & I was able to enjoy his performance stress free.
The concert took place in the Islington academy, which is a very cosy/intimate venue. As Xavier isn’t that big in the UK as of yet, this was a perfect choice of venue, as it allowed us (the audience) to connect with both each other & Xavier, forming some what of a bond throughout the evening.
Usually, part of my pre-concert ritual includes watching live performances on YouTube and other social media platforms. However this time, that didn’t happen. I was so caught up with work & life that it completely slipped my mind. I felt as though I was walking into this concert blind, with no idea of what to expect.
On this occasion, my lack of preparation & expectations left me pleasantly surprised. I would have never of guessed that Xavier would be such is such an energetic, outstanding performer. His music is pretty chill & laid back which is completely a different vibe to what I witnessed on stage.
Hands down one of the best concerts I’ve been to this year & trust me, I’ve been to a lot.
If you want to check him out I’ve linked his soundcloud below ☺️
Hey everyone, I’m back again with the 8th segment of Tunes on a Tuesday! Honestly, I can’t believe it’s been 8 weeks already, time surely does fly.
This weeks post goes to Sylo Nozra, an R’n’B vocalist/producer from Toronto. Sylo released not one but two tracks just in time for summer. The light, airy production is very similar to that of Lolo Zouaï’s Brooklyn Love, which was my chosen track for the 5th week of this segment.
Lately there have been so many new artists emerging from Toronto or should I say Canada as a whole. It is so refreshing to hear a variety of new sounds from a place which wasn’t previously that well known for music.
Check out Je t’adore & omw by Sylo Nozra below.
Back at it again with another Tunes on a Tuesday!
My pick for today is North Face by ODIE, yet another artist i’ve accidentally come across.
Not 100% sure what it is but this song makes me feel like i’m drowning, sounds weird I know but its a nice feeling.
He has also recently released a 7 track EP called ANALOGUE, every track is just simply beautiful and you can pick up on the subtle yet distinctive Kid Cudi influences. So if you like Cudi then you’ll most definitely like ODIE’s sound.
ODIE has definitely made it to my chilled summer playlist 🙂 Check out the song below
Welcome to the 2nd segment of Tunes on a Tuesday.
This weeks tune is Stolen moments by Cautious Clay. I accidentally stumbled across his album which was released earlier this year and I am so thankful I did.
I think I’m going through an obsession of with the sound of acoustics guitars. Just like last weeks tune of the week (session 32), we’re back at it again with the stripped back vocals and the beautiful stringed instrument.
Check it out below
I’ve decided to work on a new segment called ‘Tunes on a Tuesday’.
Every Tuesday i’ll be sharing my favorite tracks with you both old and new, in addition to introducing you to some new gems.
Lets kick off the first week with Summer Walker
Summer Walker signed to LVRN, has had a postive start to the year with her latest single DEEP, being featured on Apple Music’s ‘New Music’ playlist.
However the song that I was drawn to was this one (session 32).
In an era of heavy production, the simplicity of this track really sets it apart from the rest & leaves you to feel the raw emotions on show by Summer Walker.
